Harlan’s Derrick Akal captured the 13th Region Boys’ KABC Coach of the Year honors on Friday.
AKal has guided the Green Dragons to 23-6 record so far this season, including going 12-3 against 13th Region foes, and 4-2 against 52nd District opponents.
AKal led Harlan to a 9-0 start to begin the season which included wins over South Laurel, Hazard, Breathitt County, Pikeville, and Ashland Blazer.
