With their season on the line while staring at a 26-25 halftime deficit, the Harlan County Lady Black Bears came out in the second half looking like a completely different team.
Led by Ella Karst’s 23-point scoring effort, and the sharpshooting of Taytum Griffin, who nailed five 3-pointers while scoring 19 points, Harlan County rallied to hand Harlan a 59-45 loss during semifinal action of the 52nd District Tournament.
The Lady Black Bears (22-8) will now shift their focus to Thursday’s 52nd District Tournament title game matchup with Bell County.
The two teams played twice this season with the Lady Bobcats winning both games (64-54, 67-56).
The Lady Green Dragons (11-18) jumped out to a 21-9 lead in the first quarter as Aymanni Wynn Scored seven points while Kylie Noe added six points.
Harlan County cut its deficit to 26-25 at halftime, and led 40-35 entering the fourth quarter.
Jaylin Smith added an eight point scoring effort for the Lady Black Bears.
Noe led Harlan with 19 points while Wynn finished with 15 points.
