STREAKS END: Pineville reaches 13th Region Tournament for the first time in 11 years; Knox Central misses 13th Region Tournament for the first time in 17 years

For the first time in 11 years, the Pineville Mountain Lions are headed back to the 13th Region Tournament.

Brad Levy’s squad left no doubt in Thursday’s 76-33 rout of Knox Central during semifinal action of the 51st District Tournament.

It also marks the first time in 17 years, the Panthers (4-26) have missed the 13th Region Tournament.

The Mountain Lions (18-9) led from the get-go, outscoring Knox Central, 20-10, in the first quarter.

Pineville built a 38-20 lead at halftime before confusing to dominate on both ends of the floor in the second half.

Levy’s squad outscored the Panthers, 38-13, in the second half while cruising to their 43-point win.

Sawyer Thompson led the way with 22 points, and four 3-pointers while Ashton Moser had 14 points, and three 3-pointers.

Evan Biliter added 14 points while Wyatt Caldwell scored 10 points.

Jacob Smith led Knox Central with 10 points while Austin Bargo, and Trevor Jordan each scored nine points apiece.
