Black Bears remain perfect at 5-0 with wins over East Ridge, and Clay County

Scotty Bailey’s Harlan County Black Bears ran their records to a perfect 5-0 on Saturday after defeating East Ridge, 9-3.

The Black Bears were coming off an impressive, 3-2, win over Clay County on Friday.

Saturday’s Game

Harlan County 9, East Ridge 3

The Black Bears pounded out 13 hits in the win while adding four runs in the sixth inning, and another insurance run in the seventh inning to roll to the six-run victory.

Alex Creech turned in a 4-for-5 effort at the plate with an RBI, and two runs scored while Brayden Blakley went 3-for-4 with three RBI. Isaac Kelly collected two hits, an RBI, and scored three times while Jonah Swanner had two hits, and scored once. Will Cassim finished with a hit, and an RBI while Kaden Boggs had a bit, and scored once. Aiden Craig finished with a run scored.

Karsten Dixon got the win, pitching four inning while scattering six hits, and allowing only one earned run. He struck out three batters. Blakley pitched the final three innings, allowing seven hits and no runs while striking out five batters.

Friday’s Game

Harlan County 3, Clay County 2

With the game tied at one apiece, the Black Bears used a two-run third inning to hold on and defeat Clay County, 3-2.

Will Cassim went 2-for-3 with an RBI while Braydon Burton had a hit, and an RBI. Samuel Henson added 

Two hits while Alex Creech scored once, and Brayden Blakley scored a run. 

Tristan Cooper got the win, pitching six innings while allowing three hits and a run. He struck out eight batters. Blakley tossed an inning for the save.
