Bowling records no-hitter against Middlesboro as Clay County improves to 8-4

MANCHESTER — Clay County extended its win streak to two games after defeating both Middlesboro, and Buckhorn, respectively the past two days.

Abby Bowling improved to 8-4 in the pitcher’s circle after winning both games while also going over the 100 strikeout plateau for the season.

The Lady Tigers will enter Thursday’s matchup against Lynn Camp with a 7-3 mark against 13th Region teams. 

Tuesday’s Game

Clay County 2, Middlesboro 0

Clay County pitcher Abby Bowling was on top of her game against Middlesboro, picking up her second win in as many days while oitching a no-hitter during the process of the Lady Tigers’ 2-0 win.

Bowling also struck out 11 batters in the pitcher’s circle while delivering a hit at the plate.

Clay County scored both of its runs in the fourth inning, as Madison Sizemore drove in a run with a hit. Emi Reynolds had a hit while Carley Shepherd finished with a hit. Holly Jackson also scored a run. 

Monday’s Game

Clay County 14, Buckhorn 1

Abby Bowling tossed five innings, allowing only one earned run, and a hit while striking out 10 batters during the Lady Tigers’ 12-1 win over Buckhorn.

Kylie Frost led the way at the plate with two hits, and an RBI while Brooke Hudson drove in two runs, finished with a hit, and scored three times.

Madison Sizemore finished with a hit, scored twice while Carlie Wolfe had a hit, two RBI, and one run scored. Carley Shepherd connected with a hit, drove in a run, and scored three times while Bowling was 1-for-1 at the plate. Kylee Roberts connected with a double, and drove in a run while Holly Jackson scored twice. Sydney Stewart finished with a hit while Carli Cole scored once along with Emi Reynolds. Riley Tuttle drove in a run, and scored once while Rachel Rice drove in a run.
