Pineville’s Rachel Howard records third straight shutout, pushes scoreless innings streak to 22

PINEVILLE — Rachel Howard’s scoreless streak is now at 22 innings after recording her third straight shutout during Monday’s 7-0 win over Knox Central.

Howard, who was coming off a perfect game against Harlan County, limited the Lady Panthers to only two hits while striking out 15 batters.

Pineville improved to 7-4 overall and 3-1 against 51st District opponents (the loss doesn’t count toward the district standings because it came during the 13th Region All ‘A’ Classic Tournament.”

The Lady Mountain Lions took charge early, scoring three runs in the first inning, and that would be all Howard needed. Pineville added runs in the fourth and fifth inning before putting the game away with two runs in the sixth inning. 

Addison Slone led the way at the plate with three hits, two doubles, two RBI, and one run scored. Howard was 2-for-4 with an RBI, and one run scored while Baileigh Bargo-Vaughn had two hits, and scored once. Madalyn Capps had a hit, an RBI, and two runs scored while Isabella Adams, and Makenna Partin each finished with a hit, and RBI apiece. Kenzie Laws collected a hit, and scored once. 

Sydney Grubb, and Aubrey Jones each led Knox Central (5-8, 1-1) with a hit apiece while Savanah Thacker took the loss, allowing 11 hits, six earned runs while striking out five batters.
