13th Region Preseason Football Rankings

1. Corbin Redhounds (12-1)

With six starters returning, including players such as Cameron Combs, and Brody Wells, on both sides of the ball along with 16 seniors, the Redhounds look to make a run at the Class 4A crown.

2. Bell County Bobcats (10-3)

Dudley Hilton’s Bobcats made a deep run in postseason play last season and has high hopes of doing the same this fall with seven starters returning on defense along with tailback Dawson Woolum carrying the load on offense.

3. North Laurel Jaguars (8-3)

Jason Chappell takes over as head coach of the Jaguars and the cupboard isn’t bare. Junior quarterback Tucker Warren returns along with defensive star Austin Johnson, who led the state with 21 sacks as a sophomore in 2022.

4. Williamsburg Yellow Jackets (8-4)

The Yellow Jackets down rebuild, they just reload. coach Jerry Herron’s squad once against enters the season as one of the top teams in Class A, and deservedly so. Senior quarterback Sydney Bowen returns along with a ton of offensive and defensive talent.

5. Knox Central Panthers (5-6)

The Panthers finished with a 5-6 mark last season but look for that to drastically improve this fall. First-year coach Dustin Buckner looks to lead Knox Central to a deep playoff run. Junior Steve Partin returns as one of the top players in Class 4A.

6. (tie) Middlesboro Yellow Jackets (13-1)

Cayden Grigsby returns as one of the top quarterbacks in the state after throwing for 1,745 yards and 21 touchdowns as a sophomore last season. he also ran for 858 yards and 13 touchdowns.

6. (tie) Whitley County Colonels (2-9)

Look for Whitley County to be much-improved and build off last season’s two wins as Coach Zeke Eier likes what he has seen out of his team.

7. Clay County Tigers (5-7)

The Tigers feature one of the best offensive attacks in the 13th Region with junior quarterback Tate Rice returning along with one of the best offensive lines around, led by Andrew Roberts, and Caleb Bennett,

8. Harlan County Black Bears (2-8)

The Black Bears are ready to rebound after winning only two games last season. Harlan County must improve in defense ti be competitive after surrendering 43 points per game in 2021.

9. Pineville Mountain Lions (8-4)

Coach Allen Harris takes over a Pineville team that made an impressive run last season. Allen feels his Mountain Lions can make even more noise this season.

10. Harlan Green Dragons (4-7)

Seniors Jayden Ward, and Dylan Middleton will be hard to stop when they run with the ball after combining for more than 900 yards on the ground last season.
