Lady Yellow Jackets capture 52nd District Fastpitch crown with 11-5 win over Harlan 

LOG MOUNTAIN — Kaylee Lawson turned in a 2-for-3 effort at the plate while driving in four runs to help guide Middlesboro past Harlan, 11-5, to capture the 52nd District Fastpitch championship.

Lawson also picked up the win in the pitcher’s circle, tossing 4 1/3 of an inning while allowing five hits, and three earned runs, and striking out seven batters. Kenna Lawson got the save, pitching the final 2 2/3 of an inning while allowing three hits, and only one earned run. She finished with seven strikeouts.

Middlesboro (16-13) has now won eight of its last 11 games while the Lady Green Dragons fall to 6-20 after upsetting top-seeded Bell County on Monday.

The Lady Yellow Jackets took a 4-1 lead in the first inning, and never looked back. They added three more runs to increase their lead to 7-1 before Harlan scored three runs in the fifth inning to cut its deficit to 7-4.

Middlesboro put the game way with four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Raehgan Moyers went 1-for-3 with two RBI, and a run scored. Kenna Lawson was 2-for-3 with three runs scored while Kolbi Mason had a hit, and an RBI. Alexis Middleton drove in a run while Macy Bruce, and Keevi Betts each had a hit, and a run scored apiece.

Abby Fields hit a home run for Harlan, and finished with three RBI, and a run scored while Ella Lisenbee had two hits, an RBI, and a run scored. Ava Nunez finished with a hit, and two runs scored while Ally Kirby, Gracie Hensley, Kendyll Blanton, and Amy Roman each finished with a hit apiece. Addison Jackson also scored in the loss.

Mallory McNiel took the loss, allowing four hits, and four earned runs while Lisenbee came in relief in the first inning, and pitched the remainder of the game, allowing four hits, and four earned runs.
