SOMERSET — Williamsburg’s boys’ track and field took home first-place honors during the Class A, Region 6 Meet, totaling 162 points, 57 more than runner-up Leslie County.
The Yellow Jackets had six first-place finishes during the meet (Joseph West, Discus; Nate Goodin, High Jump; 4×800 Meter Relay team; Robel Schwarz, 800 Meter Run, 1600 Meter Run; Ben Hale, 400 Meter Dash).
Harlan finished third overall with 96 points, the Green Dragons had five first-place efforts (4×400 Meter Relay team; 4×100 Meter Relay team; Tayquan Vick, 300 Meter Hurdles); Kaleb McLendon, Long Jump & Triple Jump).
Pineville placed fifth (35 points), Middlesboro sixth (29), Jackson County eighth (15) while Barbourville (six), and Red Bird (six) tied for 11th.
On the girls’ side, the Lady Yellow Jackets placed second with 133 points while Leslie County took home top honors with 184 points.
Pineville placed fourth with 37 points while Harlan (sixth, 31), Middlesboro (seventh, 28), Jackson County (eighth, 22), Lynn Camp (ninth, 10), and Red Bird (13th, one).
Williamsburg picked up five first-place efforts (Alana Mah, High Jump; Lylah Mattingly, 100 Meter Hurdle; 4×200 Meter Relay team; Madison Peace, 200 & 400 Meter Dash).
Pineville had one first-place effort with Ava Arnett winning the 100 Meter Dash.
