Lady Mountain Lions fight back from three-run deficit to knock off Harlan, advance to semifinals

LONDON — Pineville received a scare during first round action of Monday’s 13th Region Fastpitch Tournament against Harlan.

The Lady Mountain Lions built a 3-1 lead only to see the Lady Green Dragons use a five-run fifth inning to briefly take a 6-3 edge before Pineville rallied and scored six unanswered runs to advance to Thursday’s semifinals with a 9-6 victory.

Pitcher Rachel Howard struck out 14 batters in seven inning while also allowing seven hits, and four earned runs in the win.

Addison Slone came up huge at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a home run, three RBI, and three runs scored while McKenzie Laws was perfect at the plate with a 3-for-3 effort while driving in a run, and scoring once. Baileigh Bargo turned in a 2-for-3 effort along with an RBI, and two runs scored while Makenna Partin finished with two hits, and an RBI.

McKenzie Widener, and Gracie Collett each delivered run-scoring hits while Rayanna Maidon, and Madalyn Capps each finished with a hit, and a run scored. Howard also scored once in the win.

Ava Nunez led Harlan with a 2-for-4 effort at the plate while driving in a run, and scoring twice. Ally Kirby finished with a hit, and two RBI while Addison Jackson, and Abbi Fields each finished with a hit, an RBI, and a run scored apiece. Ella Lisenbee had a hit, and a run scored while Kendyll Blanton finished with a hit, and Ella Farley scored once.

Mallory McNiel took the loss, allowing 11 hits, and eight earned runs in five innings of work. She finished with one strikeout. Lisenbee pitched one inning, allowing two hits, and one earned run.
