Corbin’s Katie Morton and Olivia McArthur end season in round of 16 at KHSAA Girls’ State Tennis Tournament

LEXINGTON — Corbin’s doubles duo of Katie Morton and Olivia McArthur saw their season come to an end in the round of 16 of the KHSAA Girls’ State Tennis Tournament on Wednesday after falling to Dupont Manual’s Sharayu Deo and Elizabeth Bryant, 6-1, 6-3.
“I’m so proud of Katie and Olivia,” Corbin coach Chris Jones said. “Both girls put in so much work in the off-season and it was nice to see that pay off at state this year.
“While they both played doubles at state last year, this was their first year playing together,” he added. “To make a run to the round of 16 with a first-year partner is pretty impressive.
“Today’s match was closer than it appeared,” he added. “Once you get this deep into the tournament and start running into teams from Louisville, it makes for a tough day. These girls fought to the very end and represented Corbin well on such a big stage.”
