PHELPS — The Jackson County Generals had reason to celebrate Thursday once again as they shut out the Phelps Hornets with an impressive 42-0 victory on the road.
The win not only improved the Generals’ record to 2-1 but also marked a significant milestone for the team.
For the first time since 2019, the Generals had managed to secure two consecutive wins and two wins in a single season.
This achievement is a testament to their hard work and determination, and it has brought a sense of pride to the entire team.
Coach Nicholas Sizemore couldn’t contain his excitement as he spoke about the game.
“I am super proud of our boys,” he said.
Despite enduring a three-hour bus ride to Phelps, the team showed no signs of fatigue. They came out strong in the first half, dominating the action, and never looked back.
Ethan Wilson emerged as the Generals’ star player, scoring three touchdowns. Jaden Leavell also showcased his skills, contributing two touchdowns. Ashton Clemmons added another touchdown, with all of them coming via rushing plays. The offense was firing on all cylinders, leaving the Cavaliers defense helpless.
However, it wasn’t just the offense that shone brightly. The Generals’ defense stepped up to the challenge, delivering a shutout performance. Their ability to prevent the Cavaliers from scoring was a testament to their hard work and dedication during practice this past week.
Sizemore emphasized the team’s growth and success, acknowledging the support they received from the community.
“Our boys are learning to be successful, and our community is behind us,” he said. “We plan to get back in the film room Monday and get back to work to prepare for the next game.”
