The Corbin Lady Redhound soccer team were coming off an impressive 2-1 win over Southwestern but couldn’t continue the momentum on Tuesday, falling to visiting Sayre, 8-3.
The loss dropped Corbin to 1-2 as Grace Gibson finished with two goals and one assist, and Olivia Jones had a goal, and an assist.
“We looked a little flat tonight,” Corbin’s assistant coach said. “We got worn down pretty easily and gave a lot opportunities we shouldn’t have. Sayre is always a very solid team. We just weren’t on our A game. We will reset and come back stronger. We’ve been playing good so far this season, this is just a little set back but it’s early so we have plenty of time to fix our mistakes and move forward.”
Corbin will back in action next week, participating in the Smoky Mountain Cup.
