Jaguars boys’ golf team heading to state; Jackson County sending two players to state 

PINEVILLE — North Laurel’s boys’ golf team will be heading to state after turning in a runner-up finish during Tuesday’s 10th Region Tournament.

The Jaguars shot a 326 while Rockcastle County won the event with a 304.

Todd Sizemore led North Laurel with a 78 while Evan Woodlee (81), Brady Hensley (82), Kole Jervis (85), and Jaxon Jervis followed (85).

Rockcastle County’s Jake Cromer won the event with a 71 while teammate Connor Ford finished second with a 72. Somerset’s Peyton Philippi placed third with a 74 while Pulaski County’s Luke Ousley finished fourth with a 76. North Laurel’s Sizemore, Wayne County’s Kooper Gehring McCreary Central’s Tanner Watters each finished tied for fifth place with identical 78s.

Clay County placed sixth overall with a 334 as Taylan Marcum and Bruce Smith both shot 83s. Brandin Crawford and a Jack Finley both shot 84s while Jaxon Hooker finished with an 89.

Jackson County finished seventh with a 343 as two General players earned state tournament berths — Micah Summers (81), and Jackson Lakes (82). Tydus Summers (89), Eli Summers (91), and Elijah Thomas (109) rounded out Jackson County’s players. 

South Laurel placed ninth overall with a 349 while Whitley County finished 10th with a 357, aCorbin shot a 380 which was good enough for a 12th place effort. 

The Cardinals were led by Tyson Gregory (85), Toby Dotson (87), Keaton Creech (87), Josh Steele (90), and Jeremiah Smith (99).

Caleb Strickland’s 86 paced the way for the Colonels while Landon Siler (89), Trey Lawson (90), Chris Strickland (92), and Caden Conlin (94) followed.

Harlan County finished in 11th place with a 379 while Bell County (14th) shot a 401, and Knox Central (15th) finished with a 427.

The Black Bears were led by Cole Cornett (89), Alex Creech (89), Zayden Casolari (99), Mason Hines (102), and Sabastian Mosley (137).

Brody Faulkner’s 92 led the Redhounds while Will Freeman shot an 94, Hayden Webb finished with an 94, Ethan Mott shot a 100, and Cruz Cima finished with a 104.

Gunnar Sams led the Bobcats with 95 while Austin Goodin (95), Brayden Saylor (100), Logan Stepp (111), and Jackson Walters (117) followed.

The Panthers were led by Grant Miller (86), Waylon Frazier (102), Logan Edmondson (113), Evin Hinkle (126), and Kai Senters (132).
