LONDON — North Laurel turned in one of its best efforts of the season against 10th Region power George Rogers Clark.
The Jaguars didn’t get a win, but they did force a one-all draw that saw their record move to 8-4-3 on the season.
The game was scoreless heading into the second half when Tanner Broyles found the back of the net after taking a pass from Grant Abner to give North Laurel a 1-0 lead.
The Cardinals (10-4-2) managed to tie the match at one apiece minutes later, and that’s how the game finished.
“I thought we came out very focused tonight and played well,” North Laurel coach David Broyles said. “We didn’t possess the ball as much as I would have liked, but we took our opportunities to counter and gave ourselves some good looks at goal.
“We came out the second half and continued to play well and finally were able to break the 0-0 tie when Grant Abner found Tanner Broyles who put it in the back of the net,” he added. “Unfortunately, it was short lived as GRC was able to tie it up on a well placed cross. I felt as a team they all played well, although Aydn Ebersole had one of his best games and came up with some big saves tonight. Naturally, we would have rather had a win, but we went toe to toe with one of the best teams in the state and come out with a tie. Hopefully we can use this as momentum to close out the regular season.”
North Laurel would have a few days off before playing on the road against Oneida Baptist on Monday.
