Clay County advances to state along with players from Corbin, North Laurel and South Laurel; Lady Tigers Avery Janutolo wins 10th Region title 

SOMERSET — Clay County will be taking its team to the KHSAA Girls’ Golf Tournament while three players from Corbin, one player from North Laurel, and one player from South Laurel advanced to state tournament play as well.

Wayne County won the event with a 358 while Clay County placed second with a 386.

The Lady Tigers ‘ Avery Janutolo won the 10th Region individual title by shooting an impressive 74.

Corbin placed third with a 400 as Makena Myatt (88), Kalyn Watkins (101), and Hannah Perry (102) each qualified for state play. 

North Laurel finished fifth with 414 points as Mia Anderson’s 98 was good enough to clinch a spot in the state tournament.

Bell County placed seventh with 509 points while Whitley County finished eighth with 585 points.

South Laurel’s Alyssa Siler punched her ticket to state tournament play by finishing third overall with an 82.
