Lady Cardinals shut out for only the second time this season, lose to Great Crossing, 7-0

LONDON — South Laurel’s three-game win streak came to an end on Saturday after suffering a 7-0 loss to Great Crossing.

It marked only the second time this season the Lady Cardinals have been shut out while matching their worst loss of the season (seven goals). They also dropped a seven-goal decision to Russell on August 19.

South Laurel didn’t have an answer for Great Crossing’s offensive attack, which was led by Seaton Hockensmith’s two goals. Audrey Addington, Meredith Turner, Kaylynn Crump, Gracie Gordon, and Finley Ison also scored in the win.

The Lady Cardinals finished with only two shots on goal with Lady Warhawk keeper Hannah Baird blocking for shots.

South Laurel’s record now stands at 9-4 with two regular season games remaining. The Lady Cardinals will play Garrard County Monday on the road at 6 p.m. before hitting the road again Thursday against Somerset.
