Redhounds suffer 1-0 setback to Madison Central

RICHMOND — Corbin’s hope of finishing regular season play with a win, fell to the way side on Saturday after dropping a 1-0 decision to Madison Central.

The Redhounds entered the week riding a four-game win streak, but capped it off by losing their second consecutive game.

With regular season play now finished, Corbin will enter the 49th District Tournament in two weeks with a 6-6-1 overall record along with the No. 1 seed in the tournament with a perfect 5-0 mark against district opponents.

“After conceding inside the first two minutes, we had a strong defensive effort,” Corbin coach Roger Taylor said about his team’s loss on Saturday. “In the past 120 minutes against really strong teams, we’ve only conceded one goal. Thats something we are really focusing on, so it’s great to see results.

“We had a few chances at the end to tie it, but we struggled to keep the ball throughout the game,” he added. “I think a big reason for that is how young we have been the last few games. A lot of freshmen struggle with the speed of varsity soccer. We have a week of training to prepare for a run at the state tournament.”
