BEREA — Twelve cross country boys’ teams from the 13th Region participated in this past weekend’s Berea Community Invitational with Corbin turning in the highest finish with a third place effort while totaling 72 points.
The Redhounds had two runners finish in the top 15 — Koby Perkins (sixth, 17:42.65), and Connor Messer, who placed eighth in a time of 17:43.97.
Bell County finished fourth with 94 points as Nicholas Stewart (5th, 17:41.05), Braydon Hickey (10th, 17:47.59), and Reese Arno (12th, 17:48.37) each placed in the top 15.
North Laurel turned in a fifth place effort with 126 points while Xander Harris (15th, 17:57.86) had a top 15 effort. Jackson County finished ninth with 267 points (No top 15 efforts) while Whitley County followed in 11th place with 287 points. The Colonels’ Danny Ellis turned in a ninth place finish in a time of 17:46.69.
South Laurel finished in 13th place (314) while Lynn Camp (15th, 388), and Harlan (20th, 521) rounded out the 20 participating teams.
Barbourville, Clay County, Knox Central, and Williamsburg also participated, but didn’t field enough runners to compete for the team championship.
