BEREA — The Corbin Lady Redhound cross country team was one of nine 13th Region teams that competed in this past weekend’s Berea Community Invitational, and turned in the highest finish.
The Lady Redhounds finished second overall, placing two runners in the top 15 with Emma Massengill turning in a fourth place finish (20:28.24), and Hadley Elmore finishing in 13th place (21:27.57).
Jackson County turned in a six-place fort with 168 points as Isabella Shearer finished sixth in a time of 20:38.38 while South Laurel (seventh, 182), North Laurel (eighth, 189) Harlan (10th, 250), Clay County (11th, 158), and Bell County (12th, 304) rounded out the 13th Region teams participating.
South Laurel had two runners place in the top 15 — Chloe Mastin (11th, 21:19.01), and Rose Stanko (14th, 21:42.50).
Barbourville, Knox Central, Lynn Camp, and Williamsburg also participated in the event but didn’t couldn’t compete for the team championship due to not having enough runners.
