North Laurel has a chance to finish regular season play on a high note of it can get a win over Great Crossing on the Thursday. It would mark a season-best third consecutive victory.
But first things first, North Laurel coach David Broyles said he was pleased with the way his team played on Tuesday.
“I felt we played well tonight and controlled the game and was glad to see our seniors close out the regular season at home with a win,” he said. “Wayne County has a pretty good team and they challenged us. We didn’t possess the ball as much as I would have liked, but we hustled and worked really hard tonight. We had several opportunities to score but just were not able to convert.
“Jaxon Jacobs was able to put us up 1-0 when he found the back of the net midway through the first half and that’s how it stayed till halftime,” Jacobs added. “We started the second half strong but we weren’t able to add to the score. Defensively, we never really gave them many opportunities to score and we’re able to hold onto the 1-0 win.”
It makes the sixth shut out of the season for North Laurel. The Jaguars haven’t allowed more than a goal during its last eight games.
