WILLIAMSBURG — Whitley County’s boys’ soccer team didn’t finish regular season play like they would have liked, losing seven of their last eight games, including Tuesday’s 2-1 heartbreaker to Southwestern.
The Colonels (6-9-1) will enter next week’s 49th District Tournament riding a three-game losing skid after seeing the Warriors rally to beat them in their last regular season match.
“We played well for most of the game tonight,” Whitley County coach Michael Branham said. “We held a 1-0 lead off a Brody Moses’ goal until about eight minutes left. We made some simple mistakes that end up costing us the game in the last few minutes as southwestern put two goals in on us in the last eight minutes.”
