Jags finish regular season play with 3-1 loss to Great Crossing

GEORGETOWN — Despite not finishing regular season play with a win, North Laurel enters next week’s 49th District Tournament with some momentum.

The Jaguars (10-5-3) entered Thursday’s match with Great Crossing winners of two straight but saw the win streak come to an end after falling, 3-1, on the road.

“I felt we came out tonight and played pretty well against a very good team, especially considering we have a few players nursing some injuries,” North Laurel coach David Broyles said. “We got some of the younger guys in tonight and they got some valuable time in. We kept the game scoreless in the first half, but came out the second half and had a seven to eight minute span where we were flat and gave up three goals.

“I have to give our boys credit for not giving up and we were able to put one in the back of the net when Seth Miller assisted Eli Davis for his first varsity goal,” he added. “Aydn Ebersole had a really good game and kept us in it with some of the best keeping he’s had all year. Even though this wasn’t a win tonight, I feel that it has helped prepare us for tournament play next week.”

North Laurel will be back in action Monday during semifinal action play of the 49th District Tournament. The Jaguars will face-off against No. 3 seed Oneida Baptist at 8 p.m. at Whitley County.

North Laurel won the lone meeting between the two teams this past Monday, 4-1.
