WILLIAMSBURG — History was made on Thursday as junior Autumn Sawyer’s scored four goals to break the 13th Region’s record of goals scored in a season, surpassing former North Laurel star Jenna Rockwell’s 56 goals.
Sawyer’s led the way with four goals, and four assists during Thursday’s 12-0 win over Clinton County, and now has 60 goals on the season.
“We played our game tonight,” Whitley County coach Michael Sawyers said. “We possessed the ball and kept pressure on their defense.”
Deserae Haynes followed with three goals, and three assists while Kimberlee White finished with two goals, and two assists. Zoie Moore, Katie Young and Valeria Sears had one goal each. Madison Earls had 2 assists.
Whitley County finished regular season play with a 12-4 mark, just one win shy of tying the girls’ soccer program record of 13 wins.
