TUESDAY VOLLEYBALL WRAPUP: Bell County, North Laurel, Harlan, and South Laurel each grab wins

Bell County, North Laurel, Harlan, and South Laurel each got wins in the volleyball court Tuesday night while Red Bird, and Clay County both dropped matches.

Bell County 3, Jellico, Tenn.
The Lady Bobcats continue to show they’re a team to be reckoned with by improving to 2-0 with a 3-0 victory over Jellico, Tenn.
Bell County win the first set with ease, 25-10, before following with 25-13, and 25-14 victories in the second and third sets respectfully.
Gracie Jo Wilder continued her dominance, recording 14 kills, two blocks, five digs, three assists, and two aces. Hannah Clark finished with seven kills, seven aces, and four digs while Lily Orick totaled three kills, and 10 assists.

North Laurel 3, Williamsburg 1
The Lady Jaguars were able to pull off a 25-17, 21-25, 25-16, 25-17 win over a much-improved Williamsburg squad.
The win improved North Laurel to 1-0 while the Lady Yellow Jackets fell to 0-1.
Jane Locke led the Lady Jaguars with eight kills, eight digs, and four aces while Alivia Parker finished with 17 assists, 14 digs, one kill, and one ace. Maria Yount collected a team-best 24 digs while finishing with four aces, three assists, and three kills. 

Harlan 3, Middlesboro 0
The Lady Green Dragons won their season-opener, defeating 52nd District foe Middlesboro with ease, 25-15, 25-14, and 25-7.
Marissa Marlowe led Harlan with five kills, and seven aces while Annie Hoskins finished with three kills, two aces, two digs, and one assist. Carley Thomas had two kills, and six aces.

South Laurel 2, McCreary Central 1
The Lady Cardinals got off to a slow start, losing the first set, 25-19, before rallying to defeat the Lady Raiders, 25-19, and 25-18.
South Laurel recorded 13 kills, and nine aces in the win. The Lady Cardinals were led by Mallory’s Perkins’ three kills, and 18 digs. Brooklyn Dugger recorded 15 digs, two aces, and one kill while Caroline Curry totaled 10 digs, and five aces.

Perry Central, 3 Clay County 0
The Lady Tigers fell to 0-2 after dropping a 25-10, 25-16, and 25-8 decision to Perry Central.

Owsley County 2, Red Bird 0
The Lady Cardinals’ record fell to 1-1 after a hard fought 25-23, 25-17 loss to Owsley County.
