Colonels total more than 500 yards on offense during 63-14 blowout win over Scott, Tenn.

SCOTT, TENN. — Whitley County begins district play next week, and what better way than to bring in a lot of confidence, and momentum after a dominating performance on Friday.

The Colonels controlled the game on both sides of the ball, and jumped out to a 42-0 first half lead before cruising to an easy 63-14 victory over

Scott, Tenn.

“Great team win,” Whitley County coach Matt Rhymer said. “ It’s awesome to see these guys compete every week. Our Offensive line blocked great and backs did a great job finding the holes. We were able to be really efficient in our play action pass game. As a team, we had over 500 yards of offense. Dee Parker had over 200 yards in the first half.

“Defensively, we played hard and made a lot of big plays,” he added. “We still have a lot of areas to improve on but I’m proud of our team and the effort they play with.”

The Colonels (4-2) will be back in action Friday on the road in a district showdown with Perry Central.

The Commodores (4-2) had Friday off, have defeated Somerset (22-21), Breathitt County (29-26), Shelby Valley (58-42), and Martin County (42-21) this season. Their only losses are to Lawrence County (38-14), and Bell County (30-26).
