MANCHESTER — Jackson County managed to edge out South Laurel and Clay County to capture the Clay County Invitational title on Saturday.
The Lady Generals placed first with 28 points while South Laurel finished second with 43 points, and Clay County was third with 64 points.
The Lady Cardinals’ Chloe Mastin won the race with a time of 23:52.7 which marks her second consecutive race she’s won. Jackson County’s Isabelle Shearer finished second with a time of 23:04.6.
South Laurel’s Ivy Lewis (25:43.5), and Rose Stanko (26:04.6), finished third and fourth, respectively.
Whitley County’s Sophy Jones placed sixth (27:58.5), while Jackson County’s Brooklyn Hammonds (28:10.4), and Knox Central’s Kaylee Mills (28:18.5) placed seventh and eighth, respectively. Jackson County’s Makynna King finished 10th with a time of 28:29.7. Julia Collins turned in Clay County’s top finish with a 13th place effort (29:28.8).
