HARLAN — Bell County captured first place honors in the Coach Bob Howard Memorial CC Invitational/Area 9 Championships 2023 meet after finishing with 22 points while Harlan County (second, 43), Leslie County (third, 83), Lynn Camp (fourth, 107), Harlan (fifth, 132) and Red Bird (sixth, 135) rounded out the six schools participating for the team championship.
The Bobcats had five runners finish in the top 10 — Braydon Hickey won the race with a time of 18:24.84 while teammate Reese Arno finished second with a time of 18:28.68. Nicholas Stewart finished fourth (19:06.50), Jacob Brannon placed seventh (19:52.15), and Hayden Green turned in an eighth place finish (19:53.50).
The Black Bears had three runners finish in the top 10 — Elijah Moore (third, 18:46.56), Kaden Boggs (sixth, 19:37.75), and Evan Simpson (10th, 20:19.53).
