LONDON — North Laurel fell under .500 on the season after taking a 3-1 loss at home to Somerset Christian on Tuesday.
The Lady Jaguars (13-14) had a week off to prepare for the match, and hung tough, improving from an earlier loss to Somerset Christian on September 5.
“I was excited about tonight’s game because I felt it would show how much we had improved over the course of the season,” North Laurel coach James Hendrix said. “We didn’t pull out the win, but there were smaller victories that we can take from tonight.
“We struggled and made errors in the first set and got behind early,” he added. “The girls fought really hard and closed out a tight second set, which I’m super proud of. We’ve improved as a team and individually as the season has went on, and this tough schedule has made these girls tougher and hungry for the postseason.”
North Laurel dropped the first set, 25-13, before rallying to win the second set, 26-23, to tie the match at one apiece.
Somerset Christian took control of the match again in the third set, winning, 25-15, before securing the victory with a 25-11 win in the fourth set.
The Lady Jaguars will play 49th District for Clay County on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
