LONDON — North Laurel snapped a two-game
Losing skid while moving its record to 14-14 thanks to a three-set win over 49th District foe Oneida Baptist.
The Lady Jaguars finished district play with a 5-0 mark, and will finish regular season play Wednesday on the road against defending 13th Region champion Corbin.
“Tonight was a special night as our seniors, Jane Locke, Allyson Clark, Emma Parman, and Meg Brock, played their last home game in the Jungle,” North Laurel coach James Hendrix said. “They are a special group of girls who made my transition in as head coach before last season seamless. I’ve learned a ton from each of them over the past two seasons, and it was great to be able to celebrate their careers.
“We were happy to get a win tonight against a district opponent,” he added. “We got the opportunity to work on some things and give some girls some playing experience at the Varsity level. We have one more regular season game against Corbin on Wednesday, then it’s time for the postseason. I like where we are as a team right now, and we’re looking to make some noise. Go Jags.”
North Laurel dominated throughout its matchup with the Lady Mountaineers (4-14), winning the first set 25-7 while capturing a 25-6 win during the second set. The Lady Jaguars out an end to the match with a 25-14 victory in the third set.
