Lady Yellow Jackets’ four-game win streak comes to an end

WILLIAMSBURG — Dirk Berta’s Williamsburg Lady Yellow Jackets were going for their season-best fifth consecutive win today, but fell at home to Cumberland Homeschool Athletic Teams (CHAT) in three sets.

“I loved the way our team responded playing a top team in the region,” Williamsburg coach Dirk Berta said. “Again, very encouraged about that response, especially in the third set. I believe in this team and these girls and believe that we can make a postseason run. We are looking forward to the challenge at practice tomorrow and then match on Thursday. Go Jackets.”

The Lady Yellow Jackets entered the match with lots of confidence, and momentum but couldn’t string together enough points to win a set.

Williamsburg’s record dropped to 18-15, and the Lady Yellow Jackets will finish regular season play Harlan Thursday on the road.

Berta’s squad fell 25-10 in the first set, and dropped another 25-10 decision in the second set before turning in a 25-21 loss in the final set of play.
