HARLAN — Williamsburg coach Dirk Berta couldn’t have asked for a better finish to regular season play.
His Lady Yellow Jackets will enter Monday’s 50th District Tournament matchup with defending 13th Region champion Whitley County red-hit after defeating Harlan in two sets on Thursday.
Williamsburg is 6-2 during its last eight matches, and possesses a 19-15 record after its 2-0 win over the Lady Green Dragons.
“Yes, great win,” Berta said. “It’s always tough to travel as far as we did and come out and win. I liked a lot of the things the girls did tonight. They played with great enthusiasm and it was reflected in the score tonight. We are looking forward to practice tomorrow and the 50th District Tournament on Monday. Go Jackets.”
The Lady Yellow Jackets wasted little time taking over the match, jumping out to an early lead in the first set before winning, 25-10. They made quick work of Harlan in the second set as well, winning, 25-7.
