CORBIN — Lynn Camp’s struggles continued on Friday as the Wildcats have now out themselves in mist-win mode for next week’s home game against Pineville.
The Wildcats fell to 2-6 overall, and dropped their fifth game in a row after a 32-25 setback to Harlan.
Lynn Camp is now 0-3 against district opponents which means the Wildcats have to beat Pineville Friday to keep their Class A playoff hopes alive,
They hung tough against the Green Dragons, but were outscored 16-6 in the fourth quarter.
Harlan got on the scoreboard first as Darius Akal’s rushing touchdown combined with Donovan Montanaro‘s two-point conversion gave the Green Dragons an 8-0 lead with 3:29 remaining in the first quarter.
The Wildcats answered with a touchdown pass from DJ Wren to Ethan Burd to cut their deficit to 8-6 with 8:07 remaining in the first half.
Lynn Camp followed with a fumble recovery and Wren found paydirt a few plays later to give his team a 12-8 advantage with 34 seconds remaining until halftime.
Harlan followed with a touchdown of its own right before the end of the half to take a 16-12 lead into the locker room at halftime.
The Green Dragons’ lead didn’t last long as Wren recorded his second rushing touchdown to give Lynn Camp a 19-16 advantage with 5:15 remaining in the third quarter.
The Wildcats took the three-point lead into the fourth quarter, but that’s when Harlan took over.
Akal recorded a rushing touchdown to open the fourth quarter while he ran for another score on the Green Dragons’ ensuing offensive possession to give Harlan a 32-19 lead with 3:15 remaining in the game.
Wren added a touchdown to bring Lynn Camp to within seven points (32-25), but the damage had been done.
The Wildcats will be back in action Friday at home against Pineville at 7:30 p.m.
