CAMPBELLSVILLE — It looked as if the North Laurel Jaguars were going to come away with their fifth win of the season after they built a 10-7 lead against Taylor County at halftime.
But the Cardinals rallied and scored 14 unanswered points in the second half to beat North Laurel (4-4), 21-10.
The Jaguars did have a positive come out of the loss as freshman kicker Cam Anderson set a school record by knocking down a 49-yard field goal at the end of the first half.
“We didn’t play with same intensity that our teams have played with tonight,” North Laurel coach Jason Chappell said. “Felt like Taylor County was more physical than us on both sides of the ball, something that normally does not happen to us.
“We also gave up a blocked punt inside the 10-yard line that set up their first touchdown,” he added. “We understand we are capable of playing better and our kids will be committed to coming back and improving.”
North Laurel has a chance to lock up its respective district’s No. 2 seed, and a home playoff game with a road win over Harlan County Friday.
