LEXINGTON — The South Laurel Middle School seventh grade Lady Cardinals captured the KBC Middle School Girls’ State Championship on Saturday after defeating both North Laurel (semifinals), and then Taylor County in the finals, 33-30.
The Lady Cardinals, who captured the state title as sixth graders last season, was led by Tournament MVP Callie Jones.
Members of the team are: Kylie Smith, Callie Jones, Kenna Andes, Mia Hibbard, Shelby Smith, Ryleigh Bretz, Lauren Wilkerson, Kenzie Fannin, Kyla Sibert, Josilynn Sullivan, Journey King, Alyssa Joseph, Hallianna Massey, Lauren Baker, Ally Combs, and Jaylee Smith.
Coaches are Amy Jones, Trevor Goodson, and Angelo Smith.
