After dropping their first match of the season last week, Michael Branham’s Whitley County Colonels have been playing red-hot soccer on the pitch.
The Colonels (2-1) defeated Barbourville, 13-1, on Monday before blowing out Knox Central on Thursday, 12-0.
With tonight being our first home game of the season, I think the boys were focused and ready to play,” Branham said. “From the start, we were able to possess the ball well and create opportunities. “Our primary focus this game was to play tighter defense and to possess the ball and I think we were able to do that tonight. I think our high powered offense will be tested next week during three tough matches.”
Matthew Sawyers led Whitley County with four goals while Johnny Parra and Brody Moses each added two goals apiece.
Jacob Senters, Levi Moses, Aiden Moses, and No. Hunter Mays each added a goal apiece.
Whitley County will be back in action Monday on the road against Harlan County.
