CORBIN — Corbin’s regular season resume is now complete after another dominating performance against a district team.
The Redhounds finished regular season play unbeaten again with a 9-0 mark while improving to 3-0 against district o points by defeating Perry Central, 55-0, on Friday.
With its regular season work finished, Corbin has now won 35 straight regular season games. The Redhounds’ last regular season loss came against Beechwood on September 11, 2020.
Adding to its resume, Corbin has five shut outs while outscoring its opponents, 345-42, on the season.
”It’s been a great regular season. Again, we have great leadership, and have given up only 42 defensively, but our varsity has only given nine points,” Corbin coach Tom Greer said.
“Offensively, we ran 18 plays and scored on seven of them,” he added. “We did a great job tonight. It was a good win. A lot of excitement tonight. It was a great night at Campbell Field.”
The Redhounds scored early and often against the Commodores as Kade Elam threw for more than 200 yards for the second straight week and four touchdowns. He has thrown for nine touchdowns the past two games.
Carter Stewart finished with more than 100 receiving yards and two touchdowns while Cam Estep had two touchdown receptions, and a rushing score while Guy Bailey found paydirt twice.
Corbin wasted little time finding its groove, scoring with 6:33 left in the first quarter behind a 55-yard touchdown pass from Kade Elam to Carter Stewart as the Redhounds led 7-0.
Perry Central fumbled the ball on its ensuing possession as Corbin recovered at the Commodores’ 33-yard line.
The Redhounds scored a few plays later as Elam connected with Cam Estep with an eight-yard touchdown pass, giving Corbin a 13-0 advantage at the 4:11 mark of the first quarter.
Elam continues to have the hot hand on Corbin’s third offensive series. His third touchdown pass of the game, a 21-yarder to Estep, increased the Redhounds’ lead to 20-0 with 54 seconds left in the first quarter.
Corbin’s rout carried over into the second quarter as Guy Bailey added the Redhounds’ first rushing touchdown of the game, a 10-yarder, to give his team a commanding 27-0 lead at the 6:57 mark.
After an impressive defensive stop at midfield for Corbin, the Redhound offense took over and found the end zone again as Estep’s third touchdown of the contest, turned out to be a nine-yard rushing score as Greer’s squad moved ahead 34-0 with 4:03 left in the first half.
Corbin managed to set the running clock off on its next touchdown, Bailey’s five-yard rushing score, increasing the Redhounds’ advantage to 41-0 with just 52 seconds left to go in the first half.
Greer’s squad continued to score at will dueing the second half as Elam’s fourth touchdown pass of the game, turned out to be his second touchdown strike to Carter as the duo hooked up for a 36-yard score two minutes into the third quarter to give their team a 48-0 lead.
Clay Akins added a rushing touchdown late in the second half to give Corbin a 55-0 edge.
