CORBIN — Whitley County tied its program record of 32 wins during Saturday’s 13th Region Volleyball first round victory over Jackson County.
The Lady Colonels (32-2) advanced with a 25-16, 25-11, and 25-15 win over the Lady Generals, and advantages to Monday’s semifinal round.
“I thought we had a good showing today and the girls were ready to play,” Whitley County coach David Halcomb said. “Jackson County had played North Laurel close in a set or two in the championship match earlier in the week and our girls knew that. We did some things really well, but had to challenge them to get their energy up after the first set. We thought they did that from that point on. Tourney time is about winning and moving on. We are excited about moving on to Monday’s semifinals.”
