CORBIN — The Harlan County Lady Black Bears became the second district runner-up team to eliminate a district champion on Saturday when they ended Pineville’s season in a five-set thriller.
The Lady Black Bears (19-9) fell behind 2-1, but the Lady Mountain Lions (18-11) couldn’t seal the deal as Harlan County won the final two sets to secure the win.
Harlan County won the first set with ease, 25-13, before Pineville picked up a 27-25 win in the second set, and a 25-23 win in the third set.
The Lady Black Bears regained the momentum as they cruised to a 25-7 win in the fourth set, and Harlan County wrapped up the match in the fifth set with a 15-9 victory.
