MONTICELLO — The Corbin Lady Redhounds girls’ cross country team did it again — they captured their fourth consecutive Class 2A, Region 5 title by dominating the field during Saturday’s meet.
Corbin tallied 17 points while placing five runners in the top 10 and all seven of its runners in the top 20.
Emma Massengill finished second overall with a time of 20:37.10 while Hadley Elmore (fourth, 22:11.92), Maddie Jo Russell (fifth, 22:19.63), Hartlee Viars (sixth, 22:31.85), Alex Herren (ninth, 23:24.78), Jaycee Frye (12th, 23.41.87), and Ella Hammons (20th, 25:18.47) followed.
Boyle County placed second with 54 points while Mercer County (third, 70), Clay County (fourth, 116), Bell County (fifth, 127), and McCreary Central (sixth, 160) rounded out the six teams that fielded enough runners to compete for the team individual crown.
Clay County’s top four finish marks the first time since 1983 the Lady Tigers will be advancing to the state meet.
