The 13th Region is loaded with talented players and it showed today when the 2023 KFCA District Players of the Year were announced.
Middlesboro’s Cayden Grigsby, Bell County’s Daniel Thomas, Corbin’s Jerod Thomas, and North Laurel’s Treyshawn Holmes-Evans were named their respective district’s Players of the Year on Tuesday.
Grigsby captured Class A, District 8 Player of the Year as he has garnered 1,455 passing yards, 21 passing touchdowns, 671 passing yards, seven rushing touchdowns, and defensively, he has six interceptions, 36 tackles, one sack and one touchdown heading into postseason play.
Thomas is Class 3A, District 7’s Player of the Year after totaling 2,574 rushing yards, 40 rushing touchdowns, 32 passing yards, one passing touchdown, two receptions, 42 receiving yards, 61 tackles, one sack, and two fumble recoveries heading into postseason play.
Smith is Class 4A, District 8’s Player of the Year after totaling 72 tackles, 17 tackles for a loss, eight sacks, and one fumble recovery heading into postseason play.
Holmes-Evans is Class 5A, District 8’s Player of the Year after totaling 321 rushing yards, and five touchdowns, five receptions, 56 receiving yards, and two receiving touchdowns, 108 tackles, two tackles for a loss, seven fumble recoveries and one interception heading into postseason play.
