North Laurel’s Brooke Nichelson comes in as the Region’s No. 2 ranked player after turning in one heck of a sophomore campaign.
Nichelson averaged 14.9 points per game while scoring 536 points. She connected on 202-of-369 shot attempts (54.7 percent) from the floor, including going 52-of-129 (40.3 percent) from the floor.
Nichelson is the region’s top defender with quick hands and athleticism allowing her to force opponents to turn the ball over.
She averaged 5.6 rebounds per game last season and finished with 201. Nichelson turned heads during last season’s Sweet Sixteen, averaging 25 points, and five rebounds while earning Sweet Sixteen All-Tournament honors which has also led to Division I offers.
Nichelson helped guide North Laurel to a 13th Region-best 30 wins, 49th District, and 13th Region championships along with an appearance in the Elite Eight of the Sweet Sixteen.
