MANCHESTER — Lynn Camp jumped on homestanding Oneida Baptist early thanks to tenacious pressure on defense combined with precise shooting from the floor to knock off the Lady Mountaineers, 56-21, on Monday.
Lauren Partin scored 16 points while pulling down eight rebounds in the win for the Lady Wildcats (1-0).
Julie Moore and Madison Weymers both finished with nine points apiece for Lynn Camp while Lily Henize, and Syde Mobley each scored six points apiece. Emma Burnette and Isabella Gambel each finished with four points apiece while Bailey Martin finished with two points.
“Tonight’s game we jumped on them early with pressure and scored quick out of the gate by turning defense into quick and high percentage shots on offense,” Lynn Camp coach Joshua Mobley said. “Defensively, we have to improve our rotations and finishing possessions on defense by boxing out and rebounding the ball better. The stats will show that we rebounded well, but we still must improve in that area.”
Paced by Partin’s eight points in the first quarter, Lynn Camp built an 18-0 lead and never looked back.
“We pushed the pace on offense and were unselfish with the ball and our assist numbers showed that,” Mobley said. “However, we were still loose with the ball and had too many turnovers for my liking.
“All in all, a great team win to start things off,” he added. “Everyone contributed tonight and a good win. Hopefully our confidence and execution carries over to tomorrow night’s game up in Middlesboro.”
Bailey Bristo led Oneida Baptist with nine points while Charity Carpenter scored seven points. Eden Conder finished with five points.
Lynn Camp will travel to play Middlesboro on Tuesday with game-time scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
