Roark scores 27 points to lead No. 2 ranked Tigers past Pineville, 85-68

PINEVILLE — Some of the best talent in the 13th Region shared the court Tuesday when Clay County traveled to face-off against Pineville.

The Tigers lived up to the preseason hype, handing the Mountain Lions an 85-68 loss.

The game was close throughout with Clayton County holding on to a 21-16 lead at the end of the first quarter while hanging on to a 36-32 edge at halftime.

The Tigers led 56-47 entering the fourth quarter before outscoring Pineville, 29-21, in the fourth quarter as Jerrod Roark scored 10 points in the final eight minutes while Elijah Bundy and Ethan Jackson each scored six points apiece.

Roark led the Tigers with 27 points, and also recorded his 1,000th career point, while Bundy followed with 20 points. Landon Dezarn hit three 3-pointers and scored 11 points while Hayden Harris added 11 points.

The Mountain Lions’ Sawyer Thompson led all scorers with 32 points while hitting all 10 of his free throw attempts. Ashton Moser added 18 points.
