Jaguars drop season-opener to No. 10 ranked Lexington Catholic

LEXINGTON — Coach Nate Valentine knew his North Laurel Jaguars would go through some growing pains early in the season after graduation a ton of talent from last season’s 13th Region championship squad.

The Jaguars took one on the chin Tuesday, but never gave up against No. 10 ranked Lexington Catholic before falling, 84-49.

North Laurel fell behind 22-14 at the end of the first quarter and never recovered as the Knights outscored the Jaguars, 62-35, the remainder of the game.

“Tonight was a tough one,” North Laurel coach Although we don’t like the result, this was a great experience for us. We will use this as an opportunity for growth as we continue to build.”

North Laurel had three players score in double figures with Reece Davidson finishing with 11 points while hitting 5-of-7 shot attempts from the free-throw line. Brody Brock hit two 3-pointers and finished with 10 points while Joe Smith also added 10 points. Jordan Rawlings finished eight points while hitting two 3-pointers.

The Jaguars will be back in action Friday during the Legacy Nissan Classic. They will face-off against CAL.
