Slow start leads to Lynn Camp’s 68-49 loss to Somerset Christian

SOMERSET — Lynn Camp’s second game in as many days didn’t turn out the way its season-opener had gone, but coach Tyler Wagner’s Wildcats hung tough before falling, 68-49.

The Wildcats (1-1) never got on track against Somerset Christian, falling behind 16-10 at the end of the first quarter, and 31-20 at halftime.

Lynn Camp entered the fourth quarter trailing, 48-39, but were outscored 20-10 during the game’s final eight minutes.

“We didn’t execute tonight,” Lynn Camp coach Tyler Wagner said. “Somerset Christian came out ready to beat us from the start. We didn’t come ready to play tonight. I take responsibility for not having my team mentally prepared. Somerset Christian jumped out to an early lead on us and never looked back.

“But we’ve got to bounce back and get ready for Thursday,” he added. “We go to Middlesboro which is a tough place to play and it’s their home opener and they will be ready. We can’t dwell on this one. We’ve got to move on and be ready. Credit to Somerset Christian for coming out and knocking us down and keeping us down. Hopefully, we learn from this and we grow from it. It’s just the second game of the season and I’ve seen a lot of progress, but consistency is what we need in this program. Because ultimately that’s what it takes to win it all.”

Tate Mills led the Wildcats with 15 points while Ian Agosto added 10 points.
