Boys Soccer Top 5

1. Corbin (0-2 overall)

The Redhounds have gotten off to a very slow start (outscored 8-0) but are winners of 14 straight against regional opponents. Until they lose a regional game, they’re going to remain as the team to beat.

2. North Laurel (1-2-1)

The Jaguars are young and talented but took one on the chin Saturday, losing to Madison Southern, 8-1,

Six different players have scored for North Laurel this season with Jackson McCowan leading the way with three goals.

3. South Laurel (1-2-1)

It’s really hard to gage how our teams are this season with the slow start each have gotten off to.

The Cardinals handled Barbourville with ease, winning 9-0, before dropping a 1-0 decision to Southwestern on Saturday.

Liam Zik leads the Cardinals with three goals while Eli Buckles has two.

4. Whitley County (2-1)

It might be time to take the Colonels as serious contenders for the region. Coach Michael Branham has done a wonderful job building the program, and now gets a shot to see just how good they are with  the Class 2A, Section 2 Tournament coming up.

Matthew Sawyers has totaled nine goals and five assists for Whitley County while Johnny Parra has four goals, and eight assists.

5. Middlesboro (0-0)

The Yellow Jackets haven’t played a game yet but keep an eye on them this season.
