Improving Jaguars hang tough against Woodford County

LONDON — North Laurel suffered its third loss in a row, but once again, they were going up against one of the best teams in the eighth region.
The Jaguars (0-3) hung tough against Woodford County before falling at home, 52-51, Saturday in the Legacy Nissan Classic.
“We came up short tonight but I’m proud of our effort,” North Laurel coach Nate Valentine said. “We are all still learning how to win with this team. We’ve had a lot of growth this weekend. Unfortunately, the learning is in the struggle.”
After falling behind in the first quarter, 11-6, North Laurel battled back, as Reece Davidson scored nine of his team-best during the period to give the Jaguars a 22-16 lead at halftime.
North Laurel was outscored 25-15 in the third quarter as Davidson added five more points while Cooper Elza knocked down a 3-pointer.
The Jaguars attempted to rally in the fourth quarter with Davidson adding seven more points while Brody Brock hit a 3-pointer and scored five points, but fell just short.
