Lady Cardinals cap off Lisa Collins Classic with 72-52 win over Ballard

LONDON — South Laurel’s knocked down eight 3-pointers and capped off the second annual Lisa Collins Classic with an impressive, 72-52, win over Ballard on Saturday.

South Laurel was dominant sporting the late 70s era uniforms the late Lady Cardinals great Lisa Collins wore.

Chris Souder’s squad hit four 3-pointers in the fourth quarter with two coming from Shelby Smith to wrap-up the 20-point win.

“We played much better tonight. It was a really good night since third game in three days and we were able to play everyone on our team,” Souder said. “We came out much more energized.
Just glad our kids wore the Throwback uniforms with pride. We chose Shelbie Mills to wear No. 10 representing what Lisa Collins meant to this program. Really good event and we also honored Sharon Garland another Laurel County Legend.”

South Laurel built a 22-13 lead in the first quarter as Shelbie Mills scored six points while Maci Messer both knocked down 3-pointers and scored five points apiece.

Jamie Buenaventura hit a 3-pointer while scoring seven of her 11 points to help push the Lady Cardinals’ advantage to 38-24 at halftime.
