CORBIN — Lynn Camp dropped its second game in a row and fell to 1-3 on the season thanks to a 47-37 setback at home to Burgin on Monday.
The Lady Wildcats struggled offensively, connecting on only 12 field goals for the game during the 10-point loss.
“Tonight’s game we stuck around in the 1st quarter,” Lynn Camp coach Joshua Mobley said. “Our offensive inefficiency was two fold, we struggled to hit shots and we hesitated too much when things were there. I did feel like we started to box out and rebound better tonight, but we still must continue to improve in this area.
“We will also have to work more on being much more disciplined on the defensive end by learning how to play on the ball, as well as to help off of the ball,” he added. “We will also have to take care of the ball much better than we did tonight. Too many hesitant decisions which lead directly to turnovers. We have a quick turnaround tomorrow and have to get ready to face Williamsburg.”
Lynn Camp dug itself an early 9-5 hole in the first quarter, but Burgin used a 20-5 run in the second quarter to take control of the game while building a 29-10 halftime lead.
Things got better for the Lady Wildcats in the second half with Lynn Camp outscoring Burgin, 10-7, to cut its deficit to 36-20 with eight minutes remaining.
Lynn Camp connected on 7-of-10 shot attempts from the free-throw line during the fourth quarter and outscored Burgin, 13-10, but the damage had already been done.
Lauren Partin led the Lady Wildcats with 16 points while going 2-for-2 at the free-throw line. Julie Moore added eight points while hitting 6-of-8 free throw attempts.
